First Year Engineering
The First Year Engineering department lays the foundation for every DVCOE student — covering core mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and professional communication common to all branches before specialization.
About the FE Department
First Year Engineering (FE) at DVCOE is the common foundation year for all undergraduate engineering students across AI & ML, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics & Telecommunication. The curriculum is set by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University (DBATU) and is designed to give every student a strong grounding in mathematics, basic sciences and core engineering disciplines.
Students rotate through introductory courses in electrical, mechanical, civil and computer engineering, get hands-on workshop and engineering-drawing exposure, and build essential programming and communication skills. This breadth helps each student make an informed choice about their specialization while developing the analytical and problem-solving mindset that defines a good engineer.
The department is supported by experienced faculty, well-equipped laboratories and dedicated mentoring sessions for new students, easing the transition from school to engineering education.
To build a strong scientific, technical and ethical foundation for every engineering student and prepare them for confident specialization in their chosen discipline.
- Deliver fundamentals of mathematics, basic sciences and core engineering with clarity and rigor.
- Develop analytical thinking, programming aptitude and engineering problem-solving from day one.
- Nurture communication, teamwork and professional ethics through structured activities.
- Mentor students to choose the right specialization based on aptitude and interest.
